Last year, Ava entered the school photography competition and we were incredibly proud of her as a number of her images were selected to be featured in the book.
This year, Ava and I went around town to capture images in Little India, Katong, and of course wildlife at Pasir Ris. She submitted a number of images in each of the 5 categories and 12 of her images were selected for this year’s book! This set the record for the most number of images by one person to be selected for the book. Considering that 15 images from her age group get into the book, this is an amazing accomplishment.
I was part of the judging panel that originally judged the photos. I didn’t select any of her images to go beyond the first level of judging - I left that up to the other judges. But after so many of her images were selected, I did something that I have never done before. I took all of the images in her age group to a separate new judging panel in which I did not participate at all and had them judge the images. Although the results of which was their first second and third favourite images were not the same as the first group of judges, they still selected 12 of her images as ones to be in the book.
We are so incredibly proud of Ava for all the work and effort she has put into her photography. These are the images that were selected to be in the book.
